No cable? Here are three ways you can still watch the Olympics
So, don’t be surprised when you tune to ESPN this weekend and find wall-to-wall coverage of the NFL’s Hall of Fame Weekend.
You could also sign up for Sling for one month for $20, and then cancel after the Olympics are over. You’ll either see a crisp, handsome image or no image at all.
This marks the second consecutive time that NBC Olympics and Yahoo are collaborating around the Games.
First, we’ll start with the easy stuff.
Pay-TV customers can log onto NBC’s apps by authenticating their subscriptions, but cord cutters will have to leap some hurdles. They are the called The Olympics – Oficial App and Rio 2016. NBC was also reportedly upset that because the Portugese language is being used for the parade of nations, the USA team (or Estados Unidos) will file into the stadium relatively early. Kardashian confidant Ryan Seacrest – possibly a slightly left field choice, although he did appear at the 2012 Games – will host the late-night show, and the veteran Al Michaels, best known for calling National Football League games, will be involved during the daytime and at weekends. With Rio only an hour ahead of East Coast time vs five hours for London, boosting live viewing, Saturday was the best day ever for NBC Olympics digital platforms, with 155 million live streaming minutes, the network said. If you don’t have any cable credentials, try asking a friend or family member-nicely.
NBC is one of the “big four” broadcasters, and still has a free over-the-air signal in many parts of the US. NBC will also broadcast 100 hours of events in virtual reality, but only for those with Samsung Galaxy phones compatible with Gear VR. In Canada, CBC will stream the games on its app and website.
To get those, you may want to eye two other streaming services. From the Opening Ceremony to the Closing Ceremony and everything in between, 11Alive is your local NBC home for all things Olympics!
Snapchat will have a live story feed populated by a range of Snapchat users who are sending in their photos and videos from the Olympics. To watch the Olympics online via PlayStation Vue, you’ll need to have a PS3/PS4, Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or iOS/Android device. The last time where men and women were identical in interest in watching the Olympics, you need to go back to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Not quite. Despite having enough sport to shake a stick at, it won’t mean blanket coverage on the NBC’s main channel.
The games will be broadcast on NBCUniversal channels with an unprecedented 6,755 hours of coverage on all sports. You can watch Sling on many connected devices, including Android, iOS and Windows devices.
Playstation Vue, which recently expanded to the entire United States, also includes NBCUniversal channels in its base package (which runs $40). Other coverage will be spread around CNBC, MSNBC and USA. That’s how much Sling TV Blue costs.
