Harvard Republican Club won’t endorse Trump for president
However, the release was indeed distributed by the Harvard Republican Club via posting to their official Facebook, Twitter, and Medium pages on 4 August 2016.
Trump, they alleged, holds views that are antithetical to values not only as Republicans, but as Americans as well.
Club spokesman Matt Friedman says Trump’s midday speech at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center will be open to the news media but not the general public.
Not only has the student group at Harvard University refused to endorse the foul-mouthed billionaire, but it has also asked Republican leaders to disavow the former reality TV star.
The Detroit Economic Club says Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will speak in Detroit next Monday. We will not stand for this vitriolic rhetoric that is poisoning our country and our children.
The national poll shows that in this demographic, Donald Trump is less popular than Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, as well as the two third-party candidates, Jill Stein and Gary Johnston.
Alluding to Trump’s remarks targeting the parents of Pakistani-origin US Army Captain Humayun Khan, who died while serving in Iraq in 2004, the Club slammed the billionaire tycoon for insulting the sacrifices made by veterans.
“I think it’s very doubtful that the group would endorse Mr. Trump. Domestically, his protectionist trade policies and draconian immigration restrictions would enlarge our federal deficit, raise prices for consumers, and throw our economy back into recession”, the young Republicans feared. “When confronted about these frequent reversals, Trump lies in a manner more brazen and shameless than anything politics has ever seen”.
“He is looking to pit neighbour against neighbour, friend against friend, American against American”.
