The Walking Dead Season 6: Meet three new characters!
Corey Hawkins, Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever are joining the new season of “The Walking Dead” when it premires on October 11, and EW has some new pics and character info on the newcommers.
Merritt Wever, who was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con cast panel, will be getting a slight career upgrade as Dr. Denise Cloyd, a much-needed surgeon in town.
Meanwhile, TV veteran Ethan Embry from “Grace and Frankie” is set to play a supposedly complicated character known as ‘Carter.’.
Showrunner Scott Gimple told EW that Embry’s character is a composite of several characters from the comic.
Dr. Cloyd is one of Alexandria’s residents and she is quite an expert in surgery, which is what Carl will need in the near future because he’s going to get shot in the eye in the upcoming season. Hawkins will play the role of Heath, Glenn’s good friend and one of the supply runners in Alexandria.
It also looks based on what Gimple and Greg Nicotero said that we will also get a chance to see more of how Lennie transformed into the uber-pacifist that he is when we see him once again in season 5 after a significant amount of time away. Lincoln NEVER breaks character and always maintains his American accent, even on a photo shoot.
In the comics, Denise is romantically linked to Heath although there’s no word if that relationship will carry over to the show or not. “It’s been fun and he dove in with both feet”, he said. According to reports, audiences of the bloody AMC series will be introduced to a slew of new characters – some of whom comic book readers may remember from Robert Kirkman’s beloved series of the same name.
In the last season, the show leaves off with Rick killing a man in Alexandria. “He’s really, really excited to be there”. “He’s tough and skeptical when the cameras are rolling, and then when they’re off he’s just like a goofy fan”.
Fear the Walking Dead will begin airing its first season on Sunday the 23rd of August and if six episodes isn’t enough, the show has already been commissioned for a second run.
