Tim Kaine says Hillary Clinton has learned from email ‘mistake’
Trump himself ended the week by grabbing hold of an off-the-cuff remark Clinton made about misspeaking – she said that she “short-circuited” – and ran with it as evidence that she is somehow mentally incapacitated.
Young Americans are divided over Hillary Clinton’s handling of her email account while she was secretary of state, with most young whites saying she intentionally broke the law and those of color more likely to give her the benefit of the doubt.
“I have acknowledged repeatedly that using two email accounts was a mistake and I take responsibility for that but I do think having him say that my answers to the Federal Bureau of Investigation were truthful and, then I should quickly add, that what I said was consistent with what I said publicly and that’s really in my view ties my both ends together”, Clinton added.
‘Chris [Wallace] might have been asking her a different question, but the bottom line is this: She made a mistake and she said over and over again, “I made a mistake and I’ve learned from it, and I’m going to fix it, and I apologize for it, ‘ Kaine continued”.
In reality, Clinton claimed numerous times she never sent nor received classified information on her private server, which is clearly false. He did tell Congress that her public statement about classified material was “not true”. “I would have won such a case”, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor, told ABC’s “This Week” program on Sunday.
On the tax question, the Clinton campaign pushed back, insisting that the candidate never said she intends to raise taxes on the middle class.
LLAMAS: So Jon, does that really clear things up? She seemed to do that in an interview Sunday with Fox’s Chris Wallace.
Hillary Clinton asserted Friday that FBI Director James Comey said she was truthful in her statements to investigators about her private server and use of private emails – and that those statements were consistent with what she has said publicly.
THE FACTS: Comey has declined to say precisely what Clinton told FBI investigators, but he has never directly called Clinton’s comments truthful. “I may have short-circuited and for that I will try to clarify”.
HILLARY CLINTON, (D), PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE: People have count on me and trusted me. “She’s incompetent, and I don’t think that you can even think of allowing this woman to become president of the United States”. Many more emails contained sensitive information, but were marked classified only later. Can you conclude here whether or not Secretary Clinton lied to the American public about sending and receiving classified e-mails?
WELKER: But on trust, Clinton also getting a big boost – former CIA Director Mike Morell, who’s worked for Democrats and Republicans, endorsing her – saying, Donald Trump would be a ‘dangerous commander-in-chief.’ Kristen Welker, NBC News, Washington.
