Pogba record deal set for green light subject to medical
Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has passed his medical ahead of rejoining Manchester United for a record-breaking fee of €110m, according to reports.
France midfielder Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United moved a step nearer on Sunday as Juventus granted him permission to undergo a medical.
“United is the flawless club to bring him to the level he wants to be”, Mourinho said after his side beat Leicester 2-1 at Wembley on Sunday (7 August) to win the annual FA Community Shield.
Pogba went on holiday to the United States after the Euro final defeat leaving his powerful agent Mino Raiola to sort a deal out but matters had still not been resolved by the time he returned.
“We will see tomorrow (Monday) if he is a still Juventus player”.
“He comes to a winning side – a team who have won their last two matches, in the FA Cup and today”. “I was told before the game that the medical was confirmed, and Juve allowed us”, he added.
Only 23 years old, Pogba’s return to Manchester United after four successful seasons with Juventus is set to make him the most expensive player in history at 89 million pounds ($116.4 million, 105 million euros).
The Portuguese has already put his stamp on his squad, signing Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and trusted lieutenant Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who served Mourinho so brilliantly at Inter.
Juventus full-back Patrice Evra, who was at United with Pogba, said the club initially “underestimated” his France team-mate.
“United is the flawless club to bring him to the level he wants to be, the Premier League is the ideal habitat for that”.
“Money he would get at any big club”.
The defender welcomed United’s move for Pogba and hopes the world-record deal will lead to further trophies.
Pogba’s expensive return to Old Trafford follows a bitter split four years ago. “So hopefully everything goes well and he comes into our team”. “He has tons of skills, he can score you the odd goal and give you an assist from time to time, and I think that he will help Manchester United in that position”.
Scholes came out of retirement aged 37 in January 2012, and Pogba said: “I didn’t want to sign a contract as Ferguson didn’t play me, even though there were no midfielders there”.
“He has got so much confidence in his own play so it didn’t surprise me that he was the one that fired us to victory”.
