Jimmy Kimmel speaks about brutal Cecil the Lion slaying
“To lure the animal out of the preserve, I don’t understand how anybody thinks that’s a sport”.
Walter James Palmer, a 55-year-old cavity-filler from Minnesota, paid $50,000 to kill Cecil, a legendary beast living at the Hwange National Park.

“I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt”, he said, maintaining that to his knowledge, everything about the hunt had been legal.
“But if you’re some a-hole dentist who wants a lion’s head over the fireplace in his man cave so his douchebag buddies can gather around it and drink scotch and tell him how awesome he is, that’s just vomitus”.
Jimmy Kimmel’s tearful plea on Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for donations on behalf of murdered Cecil the lion not only tugged on heart strings, but it also on opened up a lot of wallets.
Palmer shot Cecil with a bow and arrow.
“The big question is: why are you shooting a lion in the first place?”

I was shocked and outraged to hear the story of Cecil, Zimbabwe’s much loved lion. Here are a few details about the case that has gained global attention.
Two men arrested for illegally hunting a protected lion are in court in Zimbabwe to face poaching charges. Even though this might not seem like a huge number, the wild lion population has been in decline across Africa for years, falling an estimated 30 percent over the past two decades alone.
The dentist who killed Cecil the lion continues to be public enemy No. 1.
His clinic’s website, which is no longer online, said he enjoys outdoor activities and, “Anything allowing him to stay active and observe and photograph wildlife is where you will find Dr. Palmer when he not in the office”.
The lawyer representing farm owner Honest Trymore Ndlovu, who also appeared in court, said his client was not yet charged and was released from custody. “Maybe next week”.
Sickening footage of big game hunters’ grisly slays have surfaced, showing how Cecil the lion would have been savagely slaughtered by the globally loathed American dentist Walter Palmer.
Cecil, considered a famed local tourist attraction, was lured out from the protected Hwange National Park by local tour guides who tied a dead animal to their vehicle.
The American is believed to have shot it with a crossbow, injuring the cat.
Americans make up the bulk of non-African hunters, with 15,000 going to the continent on hunting safaris each year, according to John Jackson, president of Conservation Force, a lobby group that says regulated lion hunting helps protect the animal by giving reserve owners a financial incentive to deter poachers and cultivate stock. The association has since revoked his licence.
