“Flash” Casts “Vampire Diaries” Alum As Caitlin Snow’s Mother
As reported by EW, Susan Walters has landed the role of Caitlin’s mom, Dr. Carla Tannhauser. Her character, Dr. Carla Tannhauser, is likewise a biomedical engineer – so we get to see where Caitlin gets her natural talent for science.
According to the latest updates from Screen Rant, season 3 of the Grant Gustin-led series will finally introduce the mother of Team Flash’s resident biotech genius, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker).
Even before the addition of her character, Caitlin’s mom was already hinted at during the last season when Caitlin came across her Earth-2 alter-ego, Killer Frost – both have the same cold and distant relationship with their mothers.
According to EW’s casting notice, “the two have long had a hard relationship, with Caitlin finding her mother cold and withholding, and Carla regarding her daughter as rebellious and ungrateful”. While Caitlin may have inherited her mom’s expertise in the field of science, the two have long had a hard relationship. “I’d like to learn a little more about Caitlin’s family”.
The casting of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Teen Wolf” alum actress is expected to bring more exciting storylines for Caitlin.
Panabaker also revealed how excited she is to work with Walters, tweeting: “I am SO excited to meet Caitlin’s mom #TheFlash”. During that time, she shared a scene with her Earth-2 doppelganger Killer Frost.
We can safely say that the introduction of Susan Walters as Dr Tannhauser opens up a number of narrative possibilities for season three of The Flash.
Other fans also believe that it’s possible for Caitlin and Carla to set aside their differences and help each other out for the common good.
The Flash returns for its third season Tuesday, October 4 at 8/7c on The CW.
