Tim Tebow To Take A Crack At Baseball
As ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, former Eagles quarterback Tim Tebow is now “actively pursuing” a professional baseball career.
Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow “is actively pursuing a career in professional baseball”, according to ESPN.
Tim Tebow played his last regular season NFL game almost four years ago, but could his Major League Baseball career soon get underway? Tebow, who turns 29 on Sunday, plans to hold an open tryout for all 30 Major League Baseball teams in late August to show them what he can do both at the plate and in the field as an outfielder.
Tebow had a successful career as a High School player, and according to ESPN, he has invited all 30 Major League Baseball teams to see him practice, in the hope of earning a contract. He hasn’t swung a bat since he graduated from Nease in 2005.
“Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures”, Jimmy Sexton, Tebow’s football agent, said. Tebow has informed ESPN, where he works as a college football analyst, of his plans and will continue working for the network. The former first-round pick of the Broncos has been in and out of the National Football League since being drafted in 2010.
Tebow has accomplished many great things in his 29 years and generally makes sound decisions.
The Boomers didn’t reveal how much the contract offer was for, but ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that it would pay 0 a month.
But Tebow is switching sports – to baseball – during his latest return to professional sports.
Former Angels scout Tom Kotchman, now with the Boston Red Sox organization, told WEEI-AM that Tebow could have ended up playing baseball for Anaheim had he opted for baseball coming out of high school.
On his Twitter account, Fox Sports baseball report Ken Rosenthal released a statement from Brodie Van Wagenen, co-head of the baseball arm of CAA, the agency that represents Tebow. He had some natural loft.
“I have seen Tim’s workouts, and people inside and outside the industry – scouts, executives, players and fans – will be impressed by his talent”, Wagenen said. He had enough arm for that position.
“Tebow has big-leaguel left-handed power”.
