5.1 quake rural California, no damage reported
S. on Tuesday was a 5.1 jolt at Upper Lake in northern California. The U.S Geological Survey reported the quake struck at 7:57 p.m. and its epicenter is believed to be about 50 miles from Healdsburg in Sonoma County, and 85 miles from Sacramento.
The quake hit about 11 miles below the surface on the Bartlett Springs Fault, the USGS said.
Less than 10 second later a second quake, a 3.9 magnitude, was recorded about 15 and a half miles west southwest of Perry, Okla.at a depth of a mile. That quake hit at around 8:08 p.m. about 5.6 miles northeast of Upper Lake.
Only a few minutes earlier, a 2.7 natural disaster was recorded about four miles northeast of Rose Hill at 5:49 a.m. Government reports indicate it was only felt in that immediate area.
“I was just sitting on the sofa”.
Firefighters were battling a small wildfire nearby. They reported shaking, but nothing falling off of walls or any damage as far as they knew.
Under certain conditions, a temblor of that size is capable of causing considerable damage.
