GOP fundraiser Whitman backs Clinton, blasts “demagogue” Trump
Hillary Clinton’s polling numbers bounced up in the days following the Democratic National Convention, giving her a 4.4-point lead as of August 1, according to the latest data from RealClearPolitics. “Trump’s reckless and uninformed positions on critical issues – from immigration to our economy to foreign policy – have made it abundantly clear that he lacks both the policy depth and sound judgment required as President”.
Nonetheless, one should not ignore Trump’s Russian gambit, which provoked a chorus of outrage from Democrats and across much of the mainstream media and social media.
Ms Whitman, who has likened Mr Trump to Hitler and Mussolini in the past, called the NY billionaire “a dishonest demagogue” who will lead the United States on “a very risky journey”.
The fundraising gap between the Clinton and Trump campaigns shrank in July. Forty percent who watched the Republican convention a week earlier said they were more likely to vote for Trump.
HFA said its average donation for the month was just Dollars 44 and about 54 per cent of donations in the month of July came from new donors.
Any one of these comments might have doomed other campaigns, but Trump has proven himself nearly bulletproof against traditional election expectations.
A growing list of Clinton converts suggests otherwise.
Meg Whitman said all Americans should “put country first before party”.
The Silicon Valley billionaire’s endorsement of the Democratic nominee comes as a blow to the Trump campaign as it is embroiled in multiple controversies and struggles to retain support within the GOP.
Trump stunned Republicans by telling The Washington Post in an interview Tuesday that he wasn’t ready to endorse Ryan, who faces a primary contest in Wisconsin next week. He also had a meeting with McCain and publicly endorsed Ryan. He says Hillary Clinton has pledged to make that investment.
Richard Armitage, who served as deputy secretary of state for George W. Bush and deputy secretary of defense under Ronald Reagan, defected in June.
He also questioned why Republican leaders who have crossed swords with their own party’s candidate continue to support him.
Clinton, meanwhile, kept up her assault on Trump’s business practices, holding up a Trump-branded tie as she spoke at the Knotty Tie Company in battleground Colorado.
Trump “is unfit to serve our party and can not lead this country”, Hanna wrote in a column for Syracuse.com.
“Wouldn’t that be embarrassing to lose to crooked Hillary Clinton? Donald Trump, you are no Ronald Reagan”. The Oneida County and Herkimer County Republican chairpersons recalled the party supporting Congressman Hanna in his three succesful bids for office.
