Shocking moment when lion attacked child on live TV surfaces on YouTube
As is the nature of the Internet, sometimes videos go viral that aren’t super recent.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident happened during the filming of the former Mexican program Con Sello de Mujer.
In the video, the toddler- and who is assumed to be her mother -are sitting on the stage with the animal handlers.
A man (who appears to be the lion’s keeper), jumps into action, frees the child’s trousers from the animal’s mouth, and pulls the powerful creature back.
As disturbing as the scenario was, it’s shocking to see how calm and cheerful the grown-ups around the baby were during a potentially deadly situation. Now we know what to do in the case of a lion attack: keep calm and keep smiling while a carnivorous animal threatens to kill your baby. Eventually, the lion jumps up and clamps down on the poor toddler’s legs. You can hear some comments telling everyone to “relax” as the handler tries to get the lion off of the baby.
At one point the animal even tries to latch onto the little girl’s legs with its razor sharp teeth, while her mother cries out in panic.
The clip concludes with the handler then giving the mother a hug to apologise for the incident. It ran from 1998 to 2007 and touched on topics including health and beauty.
