Green Day Return With ‘BANG BANG,’ Their First Single in Four Years
The pop-punk legends announced a new album today, Revolution Radio, that was inspired the protests following the grand jury’s decision to not indict police officer Darren Wilson for killing 18-year-old Michael Brown.
It’s been four long years since Green Day completed their most recent trio of albums: ¡Uno!
Green Day have also made Bang Bang an instant download for those who buy the record ahead of its launch.

The band released a lyric video for the song exclusively via Facebook, which you can check out below. Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone about his inspiration for the track, “Yeah”.
Welcome back, Green Day! It’s not strictly a political concept album like “American Idiot” – there are also more-personal songs like ‘Ordinary World, ‘ a sweet ballad that ends the album.
Revolution Radio is Green Day’s first record since Armstrong’s rehab stint, as well as battles with cancer for both bassist Mike Dirnts wife, Brittney and the group’s touring guitarist Jason White. That’s the sound of the excitement at what might be the first real promising song the band has released since 2004’s all timer, American Idiot.
