Wounded Arkansas police chief heard bullets whizzing by
A police dog that ran away after being wounded during a shooting that killed an Arkansas deputy was found alive and was recovering on Saturday, the Greenwood Police Department announced.
Kina (pictured left and right) ran off after she was shot twice on Wednesday.
A heartwarming video shows her running to Corporal Dennis Wisner, despite suffering dehydration and two shots with both entrance and exit wounds, police said.
She was found with two gunshot wounds, but the dehydrated german shepherd was able to walk into a local vets office, where she was x-rayed and treated.
When Kina was spotted, she came to her handler, Cpl.
The dog, which was still wearing its bullet-proof vest, had bullet wounds to the neck and back and was taken to a veterinarian, the story said.
According to a post on the Cornerstone Facebook page, Kina is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.
Inside the home, police say Billy Monroe Jones, 34, was firing a rifle at the officers who had initially responded to a domestic disturbance call after Jones allegedly threatened a family member with a gun.
The police dog, Kina, was found by a passerby inside a house that was under construction, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Kina was injured in the Wednesday afternoon shooting that killed Sebastian County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Cooper and injured Hackett Police Chief Bill Hollenbeck. The K-9 had been in Wisner’s vehicle when she was shot.
