Florida Woman’s Hand Almost Bitten Off By Alligator
A woman is hospitalized in South Florida after authorities say she was bitten by an alligator.
The victim, who was on a dock, dropped a can in the water and when she reached her hand in to retrieve it, the alligator struck. It was then that a four to five-foot long alligator bit her.
“The hand was still attached though it was a very severe, nearly full amputation of the hand”, Jachles said, adding that the woman was stabilized after bleeding severely and losing consciousness.
Jachles said people accompanying Jachles grabbed her to prevent her from falling into the water, which “could have very well saved her life”, the station reported.
Officials said she suffered a near amputation and is undergoing surgery.
Shortly before 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Fire Rescue units arrived in 4500 block of Northwest 39th Street to find the kitten’s front paw stuck in a 1-inch opening in the sewer cover, spokesman Mike Jachles said.
Coral Springs Fire Department responded to reports of a woman being bitten by an alligator Friday afternoon.
Kimberly Anne Sexton, 49, of central Florida, was bitten on the hand while at Willards fish camp, a remote area only accessible by airboat or helicopter, near Parkland, WSVN-TV reported. Reporter: The woman in critical condition as doctors try to save her hand.
