Robert de Niro Says Donald Trump Is ‘Totally Nuts’: ‘God Help Us’
Robert De Niro poses after receiving “The Heart Of Sarajevo” award for Lifetime Achievement in Contributing to the Art of Motion Pictures, on the opening night of the 22nd edition of Sarajevo Film Festival on August 12, 2016. United States actor Robert de Niro today compared Donald Trump to the mentally unstable character he played in the iconic 1976 film Taxi Driver, calling the Republican nominee “totally nuts”.
Well, Robert de Niro today compared his iconic character to Donald Trump.
De Niro starred in the 1976 film in the role of Travis Bickle, a mentally disturbed Vietnam war veteran.
In fact, things have got so bad that Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign has nearly been as unforgivable as some of Robert De Niro’s recent film choices.
But De Niro does see some light at the end of the tunnel, though.
When the moderator asked De Niro to elaborate on Bickle’s mental illness, the first thing that seemed to have crossed the actor’s mind was the Republican candidate.
“People like Donald Trump who shouldn’t be where he is so”.
About 300 taxi drivers have put up posters in De Niro’s honour, Reuters reported.
For many Sarajevans the festival week is the wildest of the year and they plan their vacations around it. Tourists flood the city, concerts start after midnight and cab drivers say even at 3 a.m.it takes a long time to drive through crowds partying on downtown streets in front of bars.
The “Goodfellas” star said the media has given the candidate too much attention, and are now realizing, “come on Donald, this is ridiculous, this is nuts, this is insane”.
