Hibs reject Allan transfer request
A club statement said: “Hibernian FC ask supporters to ensure they are respectful when commenting on any club matters on Twitter or any other form of social media”.
Hibs were a thorn in Rangers side for much of last season, winning the first three league matches with an aggregate scoreline of 9-2, but it was Rangers who won the final league meeting of the season before coming out on top over two legs in the Scottish Premiership play off semi-final before losing to Motherwell in the final.
The move was a show of unity between Stubbs and chief executive Leeann Dempster after they resolved to keep Allan at Easter Road until his contract expires next summer.
Stubbs said: “I am very happy to continue with the work in progress”.
Stubbs and his coaching team signed new contract extensions on Wednesday and the former Celtic and Everton defender insists neither the deal or its timing is in any way related to Rangers’ pursuit of Allan.
“To let all that go then it could take an terrible long time for it to get back again and I don’t expect that”. He’ll be getting advised to do things but we expect him to be in every morning, train, train properly and get on with his job. “But people have to respect, and it is important to say that, the position of the football club”.
By all accounts, having handed in his transfer request on Monday, he isn’t going to Ibrox either as Hibs have stressed to the level I’ve not seen in a while he’ll not be sold to Rangers!
If his arrival can be considered something of a coup for the Hibees, it will no doubt increase the speculation over Scott Allan’s future despite Stubbs and the club’s insistence he’s not for sale.
