American woman killed in London knife attack An error occurred
Early on Thursday, a 19-year-old man committed a knife attack in the United Kingdom capital that led to the death of a woman in her 60s.
Officials said a Norwegian man of Somali descent who killed one American woman and injured five others in London was “not motivated by terrorism”.
On Wednesday night, Horton was killed when a man with a knife began attacking pedestrians in Russell Square. Police said a woman “in her 60s” died at the scene.
The 19-year-old was Tasered by police and taken into custody after the shocking attack. “It does appear to be somebody who had mental mental health problems, according to the police”.

There was no evidence of radicalization or terrorism as a motivation, Metropolitan Police Asst.
Horton and her husband, Richard Wagner, were in London because he was teaching at a summer study-abroad program.
Police cordoned off the southern part of the square, which is near the British Museum, for several hours as forensics officers examined the attack scene.
The woman who fell to the stabbing attack was an American national, Rowley said, adding that those injured were Australian, American, Israeli and British nationals.
The mayor said police were seeking “to establish the full facts including motives” for the attack and urged the city’s residents to stay calm but alert.
Authorities said Thursday that the attack was not terrorism, but rather “triggered by mental health issues”.
“As a precautionary measure tomorrow, Londoners will wake up and in the morning they will notice increased police presence on the streets, including armed officers”, Mark Rowley, the Scotland Yard assistant commissioner, told reporters.
The Australians, a man and a woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in Wednesday night’s attack in central London, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday. The attacker injured five other people, all but one of them now out of the hospital.
