AT&T’s New Mobile Share Advantage Plans Include Throttling Without Ridiculous Upcharges
AT&T today announced a major change to its mobile rate plans.
AT&T’s new Mobile Share Advantage plans will be tiered: The cheapest option starts at $30 and comes with 1GB.
Starting Sunday, AT&T will begin offering what it calls the Mobile Share Advantage plan, which eliminates the pricey fees that consumers now face if they go over their monthly data allotment. AT&T will instead slow data consumption for those customers, from 4G speed to 2G speed, for the rest of their billing cycle. The company is now charging all AT&T customers a $20 monthly fee just to connect their phones to the network. Also with the new plan, customers with at least 10GB will receive roaming in Mexico which was previously only available to customers with a 15GB plan.
It’s been a year since AT&T made some changes to its Mobile Share plans, and so it’s about time that the big blue carrier introduced some alterations to its plan offerings. These new data prices exclude a device access charge, between an additional $10 to $40 for each device, according to an AT&T news release. Business customers can choose from Mobile Share Advantage for Business plans. From there, users can get a 3 GB plan for $40 per month, 6 GB for $60 per month, 10 GB for $80 per month, and 16 GB for $90 per month.
With these new plans, AT&T says you will still get Rollover Data, the unlimited domestic talk and text, sharable data between lines, mobile hotspot, etc. Both Consumers and businesses can switch to the new plan, with a few exceptions outlined on the site.
