6 injured by electric shocks from amusement park ride
Six children were taken to the hospital after an electrical shock incident while they were riding on an amusement ride in New London on Tuesday afternoon, CBS Hartford affiliate WFSB reported. The victims all suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital. “The most serious injured had some small burns on the palms of his hands from when he touched the metal railing when he was getting off the ride”, said New London’s Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.
The operator of “the Scrambler” told police he felt a tingling sensation when he hit the stop button on the ride.
The cause of the shock was not known late Tuesday.
The investigation into what caused the electrical surge involves the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
The ride is shut down indefinitely as the investigation continues.
