Carroll hedges on Graham being ready for Seahawks opener
The rookie from Notre Dame has been battling a hamstring injury.
“He’s an NFL football player”, Carroll said, per ESPN.com. “He will work out in pregame. So next week if all goes well we are counting on him playing (next Thursday against Dallas)”. It was running back Christine Michael that really stole the show, though.
Rawls has been participating in a portion of team drills at practice and remains on track to start the opener in Week 1.
“He’s doing well. He’s making progress”, Carroll said. Rawls replaced the injured Lynch and ran for a team-high 830 yards and scored four touchdowns in 13 games – seven starts – during the 2015 season. “But he looked good and that was great to see”.
While Trevone Boykin’s 88-yard drive and game-winning hail mary to Tanner McEvoy grabbed the headlines in the Seattle Seahawks’ 17-16 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, the first quarter was controlled by the Seahawks’ formidable running play of Christine Michael. He began training camp on the physically unable to perform list but returned to practice last week.
“Alex is ready to go”, Carroll said. But he looked good.
We break down the fantasy implications of C.J. Prosise’s lingering hamstring injury.
So if the Seahawks think by early September Graham won’t be ready to play for about six more weeks, that IR with the designation to return could be an option. Here is a recap of other personnel news. We’ll just see how it’s going. That means Garry Gilliam will again start at RT and Bradley Sowell at LT with Terry Poole at second-team RT. “He’s really close”, Carroll said. “Just don’t want it to nag along through the preseason”. “Next week should be a great week for him if all goes well”.
“With three really big weeks coming up here, we’ll see how he goes”.
Carroll added that Graham “feels good”.
The thing is, this time Christine Michael actually came through and was the player that we all know that he can be.
Carroll said LB Mike Morgan will play after having traveled to Philadelphia this week to have his groin examined. He is doing fine doing all that stuff.
