Dolly Parton credits distance for successful marriage
Parton has been credited with putting some cracks in the music industry’s glass ceiling, but she credits her music.
Dolly Parton lives her tour bus when she’s on the road and never stays in hotel rooms.
“I think it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life”, Parton said.
Parton generally keeps her political views private.
Dolly explains, “To me, I pictured this like friends with benefits. And I thought, ‘She’s gonna love me!'” Dolly laughs. Dolly may be best known in the commercial realm for her poppier numbers, but her fanbase love her sensitive side just as much as they do her playful.
“I’m open, if she is!”
“Forever Love” is a more recent composition. “I thought I’d have to have a little wedding song, so that was the one”.
Parton sometimes slips into schmaltz on the ballads – Mama is a shocker – but her breezy country tunes just about save the day.
“I got all dressed up in the most attractive gown you’ve ever seen and dressed that husband of mine up. We just had fun with it”.
Parton says this album is really special to her because she’s taking her fans back to her roots – with songs that have a pure, tender side.
Meanwhile, Dolly revealed that her song “I’m Sixteen” was inspired by her sister, who found love again after a “couple of really bad marriages”. “I’ll never find anybody” but she did find someone and they just act like two teenage kids, like they’ve never been in love before.
She said: “Well it’s nice to get home, I don’t kick off the high heels usually.my house shoes have five inch heels, I can’t reach my cabinets without my shoes on!”
Pure and Simple gets part of the equation right. She will also appear in the sequel to her hit NBC TV movie Coat of Many Colors, which will air this holiday season. She’s bringing her boundless energy to stages in over 60 cities. “And it rhymes!’ And I got so excited”, she continued of the ode to Adele’s eye make-up. “I’ve made all these dreams come true and now I have to be responsible for it”. I have to think of myself as a working girl. “If you do work, you should be paid and appreciated for it”.
