Sunderland’s Younes Kaboul is now undergoing a medical with Watford, and should sign permanently with the club today.
Sunderland football club have released a statement saying they’re allowing Younès Kaboul to speak with Watford.
Sunderland confirmed yesterday that they had accepted an offer from the Hornets for the former France global, and he has now put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Vicarage Road.
The former Lorient man seemed eager to move, pointing to Sunderland’s failure to offer an improved contract as reason to push for a leave (Sky Sports), while the Black Cats looked to be convinced into selling the player.
Speaking to Watford’s website, Kaboul expressed his happiness at securing a transfer to the club.
The 25-year-old played for the Pozzo family’s Italian club Udinese for four years until he joined Juve in 2015.
“An agreement has been reached between the two clubs and the player has been given permission to talk to Watford regarding personal terms”.
“The club had a very good season previous year, and we need to carry that on to be even better”.
The defender said hat the fans at the Stadium of Light have supported him “fantastically well” since he arrived at the club and he hopes they understand the “difficult decision” he has made. “I hope they understand that I have made this incredibly hard decision for me”.
