OIC expresses concern over Kashmir violence
A report in the Pakistan-run news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) quoted the Secretary General of OIC Iyad Amin Madani as saying that his organisation will continue to expose human rights excesses in the Valley till the resolution of the issue in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and wishes of the people of Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Sartaj Aziz said that he exchanged views with Madani on further enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and the OIC on matters of interest for the Muslim world.
The OIC Secretary General expressed confidence that at some point, there will be progress made towards holding a referendum in the valley.Speaking on global concerns over the situation in IOK, he hoped that comprehensive dialogue will resume between Pakistan and India soon to address the outstanding disputes.
“We agreed that the platform of the OIC must be used to build a narrative against extremism and terrorism”, the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz told media about his talks with the OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani in a joint press conference in Islamabad on Saturday.
Madani said that after the killing of Burhan Wani, human rights violations were being committed enormously in Kashmir.
He called on the worldwide community to raise their voices and said that it seems as if the situation in Kashmir is heading towards a plebiscite. “It is their decision, whether they want to stay here (with India) or there (with Pakistan)”, according to Geo.
Aziz stressed that Pakistan and India should resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue.
