Aston Martin made a convertible Vanquish Zagato and of course it’s fantastic
Known for making speciality models of what are already perceived to be special cars, Aston Martin has unveiled a convertible version of its Vanquish Zagato.
Firstly, motivation for this two-seat affair comes from a 5.9-litre naturally aspirated V8 that produces 592bhp and an equally insane amount of torque. But the result is if anything even more pert than that of the coupe and distinctly different from Aston Martin’s own rumps.
“Vanquish Zagato Volante continues Aston Martin’s new century of innovation and creativity, strengthening the association between these great automotive marques in the process”.
The Vanquish Zagato Volante uses the same V12 as the hardtop, with 592bhp and a projected 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds.
Just like the Vanquish Zagato Coupe, the Volante is a run of just 99 cars – with each likely costing over £500k – with all the Zagato components of the coupe intact, with the exception of the folding roof (taken from the regular Vanquish Volante) and cowls behind the driver and passenger evoking Zagato’s double bubble.
‘We’ve endeavoured to create an elegant, flowing shape that really works to emphasise the car’s sculpted rear haunches’.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2017; no price has been confirmed.
Aston Martin announced it would produce 99 copies of the striking Vanquish Zagato earlier this summer. Aston Martin’s specialist “Q” division can add further personalisation and enhancement to a cabin finished with rich and highly luxurious materials, including herringbone carbon-fibre, anodized bronze detailing and the finest Bridge of Weir leather. The rest of the vehicle is lined in supple leather with a “Z” quilt pattern stitch used for the seats and door linings and a large “Z” embossed on the headrests and center armrest.
