Amy Schumer is taking a break from her Comedy Central show
As Schumer’s Twitter followers asked if she fired Metzger, she tweeted that the show was no longer being made.
“Inside Amy Schumer” was deemed to be canceled after she tweeted about the statements of Kurt Metzeger about rape but she recently clarified that her touring schedule has made it hard to produce the season 5 of the show.
Amy Schumer talked at length about Kurt Metzger, a writer on her Inside Amy Schumer Comedy Central series, in an interview with Charlie Rose.
Schumer, 35, responded to the incident in a series of tweets on Wednesday. Moments later, Schumer retweeted a fan who wrote “we’ll miss your show”.
Comedy Central has yet to comment on the matter.
“I’m grateful @ComedyCentral is giving me this time to work on other projects”. I think people, you know, they want his head. Now that she’s dealt with the last one, it seems Schumer has decided it’s time to tackle Metzger.
Amy has become increasingly busy and famous in the past year thanks to her 2015 movie Trainwreck, her popular sketch show, and 2016 memoir The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. In a now-deleted Facebook post, Metzger weighed in on a comedian having been banned from performing with the Upright Citizens Brigade due to allegations of sexual assault.
If the show is in fact finished, it certainly comes as surprising news considering it was renewed for a fifth season in January.
She did ultimately tweet that she was “saddened and disappointed” in him, and that she “couldn’t be be more against his recent actions”. “There aren’t any writers for the show”. “I didn’t fire Kurt”. She called for fans to “stop asking” if Metzger worked for her, adding that “his words are not mine”.
For now, at least it’s clear that Inside Amy Schumer is not over and will continue to make us laugh so hard we do real-life spit takes with our wine.
