Trump Visit to Minnesota Gets Cold Shoulder from Somalis
Some demonstrators spray-painted obscenities on the walls of the Minneapolis Convention Center as wealthy donors gathered for a private fundraiser attended by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The protest, billed as a “Torch Trump” event, ran throughout the day Friday ahead of the fundraising event, with the crowds blocking traffic at times.
Authorities had to push back the shouting demonstrators as they jostled attendees and threw paper at them while leaving the Minneapolis Convention Center, The Star Tribune reports.
Trump did not appear in public.
At a fundraiser at the Minneapolis Convention Center, protesters spat on, pushed and punched donors as they exited the event.
Some of the protesters even attempted to block Trump’s motorcade by standing in front of it and even jumping on top of it.
The demonstration was organized by the Minnesota Immigrants Rights Action Committee, reported the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
“You’ve got somebody out there saying things that used to only be said in the shadows”, protesters Giselda Gutierrez, told the Star Tribune. These brute thugs who attacked Donald Trump’s vehicle demonstrate exactly why we need to elect Donald Trump as our next President of the United States, so we can see respect for the rule of law return again in this country.
Before the event, former Minnesota Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann said she has been advising Trump on foreign policy and issues of concern to Christian conservatives.
