Jurgen Klopp says Divock Origi has ‘no rhythm’
Get 4/1 enhanced odds on Liverpool to beat Burton Albion on Tuesday night. While the manager will refresh his squad slightly, he has been keen to impress the competition carries no less importance than his side’s top-tier fixtures. I understand that Arsenal was not a flawless game – we scored four so obviously we can score goals, but we conceded three so obviously we have a defensive problem.
Klopp highlighted the club’s approach to the League Cup last season, when they lost the final via penalty shootout to Manchester City at Wembley, while also having continental encounters to navigate.
“It was not a day off, it was an experience we don’t want”.
“There is nothing more to say about this, what will happen we will see”. They could not defend against us like they wanted.
With that Championship clash in mind, Brewers boss Nigel Clough is expected to make a few changes and the likes of Hamza Choudhury, Lee Williamson, Calum Butcher, Damien McCrory and Marcus Harness will come into contention to start.
“We are very professional, very clear and always working”. They have won the Cup a record eight times, but this season enter at an early stage due to their failure to qualify for Europe.
“If we go out, we will not stop”.
“We have to do better”. That’s not how it works. We should be ready in our development and these mistakes shouldn’t happen any more, but our training drills did not include us playing the ball at the wrong time [for the goals] to the opponent. Winning is his only concern though.
“I can not give all players together the opportunity to play”.
“But at this moment, it’s not that we have a main thing to do or that we feel in this position we have nobody, it’s not that we feel we can not work with the players in the positions or something like this”.
“Obviously there is a bit I can do to help him (psychologically) but you have to accept as a manager that it is really rare you can say 100 per cent what a player wants to hear”.
“If you tell me previous year we could have played at Burnley like this, not ideal of course, I would be really surprised. We had so many moments around the box where we could have made better decisions”, added the German, who is likely to give Belgium striker Divock Origi and new centre-back Joel Matip their first starts of the season.
