Coach Pep Guardiola still undecided about Bayern Munich future
“Maybe Stefan Effenberg, the great legend of Bayern, knows more than me”.
“When the moment comes that I do make up my mind, then I will inform [chairman] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, [former president] Uli Hoeness and [director of sport] Matthias Sammer”.
Saying that he has not received any offer from any club in the world, Guardiola added that there is still time to discuss his future with Bayern officials, who are eager to keep him. “I am not completely convinced that I am the right person for this club”.
“The aim is to extend Guardiola’s contract and I think we have very good chances that he remains the coach here beyond 2016”.
However, the coach said: “Listen, I will never become a problem for FC Bayern Munich”.
Wolfsburg tactician Dieter Hecking was named coach of the year in Germany last season after guiding his team to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga and victory over Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup Final in May. “The Supercup’s a big title for me and I want to win it”.
Former Bayern captain Stefan Effenberg said in German tabloid Bild on Friday that Guardiola was set to leave, and Qatar-based network beIN Sports has twice reported that he is set to join City.
“I have not made a decision yet as to what is best for this club”.
His opposite number Dieter Hecking will also have to wait before deciding whether one of his key players, Kevin De Bruyne, is fit to play, although Guardiola hopes to see the Belgian lining up against his side.
“It’s going to be a top-quality final”.
While they may have ended the season 10 points adrift of top spot, Dieter Hecking’s men provided the champions with their closest title challenge last season.
