Almost 15000 new Clinton emails gleaned in Federal Bureau of Investigation probe
In later emails Abedin confirmed that Clinton would meet with the prince. The Democratic presidential nominee had claimed she deleted only personal emails before returning over 55,000 pages of her work-related messages to the State Department previous year.
Olson said the department earlier this month received seven discs containing “tens of thousands” of emails Clinton sent or received during her tenure as the nation’s top diplomat.
The FBI previously revealed that there were additional documents that were discovered during their criminal investigation of Clinton, but did not say how many.
While Comey called the mishandling of classified information “extremely careless”, he maintained Clinton did not willfully intend to violate any laws through the use of the unauthorized email server that was located in the basement of her home in NY.
State Department spokesman Matt Toner said Monday there was nothing improper or unusual about the messages with Clinton Foundation staff. “They’ve had many of them since July 25. and not one record has yet been released, and we don’t understand why that’s the case”. “We can not comment further as this matter is in ongoing litigation”.
The existence of the emails, Judicial Watch officials argued, represents a contradiction of previous assertions by the former secretary of State that all work-related emails had been turned over to State for review. He didn’t set a schedule for public release.
“Companies providing services to Secretary Hillary Clinton’s private email account and server are not above the law”, Smith said. Judicial Watch had sought all emails sent or received by Clinton at the State Department in a request made under the federal Freedom of Information Act, which covers the release of public records.
The State Department has already released more than 52,000 pages of Clinton’s work-related emails, including some that have since been classified.
Lawyers for the State Department suggested to begin the release of the emails by October 14. It’s not clear what other documents are on the six remaining disks. However, the total amount of emails the FBI found in its investigation has not been made public.
That revelation came during an oversight hearing July 7 that lasted five hours in which Comey told Chaffetz that Clinton’s attorney’s, who did not have security clearances, had access to classified information. Smith’s subpoenas were supported by Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. The firms’ services were retained in 2013.
“Colin Powell just proved again how dishonest Hillary Clinton is after he busted her for trying to pin her email scandal on him – one more Hillary Clinton lie”, Mr. Trump said at the campaign event in Akron.
The email exchange occurred in 2009, according to the Times.
