Android 7.0 Nougat factory images and OTA zip files are now available
New emoji, new quick settings and a new split-screen mode feature in Android Nougat. And it’s really easy, you just need to know the trick. Now instead of visiting the Play Store to download and install the app you can simply visit the application page and begin running the application in order to see if it works out for you. According to the Android developers blog, Google is working on moving Android to a regular maintenance update cycle over the next few quarters.
For example, Nougat allows you to enter emergency information like your allergies and blood type, which can be accessed from the lock screen in the event of an emergency.
Finally, the “clear all” option has been reinstated in the app overview menu. It is strongly recommended that the users should back up their Android device before attempting for an update. The battery saving features will be started as soon as the device becomes Idol.
There have also been some changes to restrict your phone’s performance, which can be handy too. Doing so will instantly switch to the previously-used app.
Don’t get excited yet though, the new OS is only available for Google Nexus devices right now since they have stock Android on them. Still nothing for the Huawei Nexus 6P, LG Nexus 5X, Motorola Nexus 6, or the LTE-capable version of the Nexus 9. The rest of us will have to wait for our phone’s manufacturer to create and release their own Nougat versions, and many of us will have to wait still longer for the new software to be approved by our carrier. This feature has been present in the Samsung Galaxy Note phones but this was not available in normal Android devices earlier.
If you stay in the Android Beta program after getting the final 7.0 update, you’ll automatically get updates to the MR1 Developer Preview when it’s available.
