More evacuation warnings issued as Chimney fire continues burning (copy)
It has burned 85,212 acres and is 60 percent contained.Evacuation orders are still in effect for Coast Ridge Road from 1.5 miles north of the Ventana Inn & Spa to the end of Coast Ridge Road at Marble Peak and all roads the leave from Coast Ridge Road, Cal Fire officials said.
The number of structures under threat remains at 1,898.
Investigators, who are expected to provide an update later Tuesday, have not determined the cause of the fire.
The fire has burned 40,798 acres and is now burning in the gated community of South Shore Village and threatening the Oak Shores neighborhood.
Firefighters in northern Utah are working to contain a growing wildfire near a ski resort that’s now crossed the border into southern Idaho.
Evacuation orders are now in place for Christmas Cove, Oak Shores, North Boat Shore and Ski, Laguna Vista, South Shore Village, Rancho Del Lago, Cal Shasta, Lake San Antonio, Sapaqua Valley, and Bryson Hesperia in both San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties.
Cal Fire officials closed the Las Tables arm of Lake Nacimiento to all boaters because of the Chimney Fire. Local residents who need assistance in relocating their pets and/or livestock until the evacuation orders are lifted may call Chimney Fire Animal Relief at (805) 423-4934.
Road closures are issued for G14 Interlake Road from Lake Nacimiento Dam to Bryson Hesperia Road.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department also sent a strike team consisting of 22 firefighters to help battle the fire today. County officials recommend limiting outdoor activity if smoke or ash is present.
The fire was first reported Saturday August 13 shortly after 4:00 p.m. Evacuations were ordered in the area of Running Deer Ranch, located on the south side of Lake Nacimiento.
County officials estimate there are more than 500 marijuana cultivation sites in the county – with more than 100 grows planted in the California Valley area since the beginning of spring.
