A red Nissan Altima attempted to crash the barricade outside the U.S. Capitol building by driving full speed into the barrier Friday morning.
One person was in the vehicle; they’re in the custody of the Capitol Police.
The vehicle came from Independence Avenue and made a quick turn into the House-side barrier, CBS reported. Authorities say to “avoid the area until further notice”.
Police have identified the male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as Antonio Pierorazio.
Police say they’ve arrested a man after a vehicle struck a barricade near the U.S. Capitol.
Police say the D.C. Fire Department responded to the scene and some streets in the area are closed temporarily.
