Lawsuit Filed Over Railing Collapse At Snoop Dogg Concert
Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg are being sued following a railing that collapsed at one of their concerts in New Jersey earlier this month.
Among those suing LiveNation, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa – who legal names are Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr. and Cameron Thomaz, respectively – is Bellmawr man Michael Carpenter, who was working security at the time of the collapse and standing directly under the portion that gave way.
Live Nation, which operates the venue, announced after the incident that it had “secured” the section of railing that had collapsed. National Event Services, an event staffing company, was also named in the suit. “Mr Broadus [Snoop Dogg] and Mr Thomaz [Khalifa] incited and inflamed the crowd by yelling for everyone on the lawn to rush toward a flimsy railing, which was all that separated the fans from the unsafe drop off and the poorly placed second stage”.
The collapse occurred as the rappers were gesturing to fans to move toward the small stage.
The lawyers said those injured in the drop fell between six and seven feet onto a concrete surface.
Other injuries included in the court documents were broken bones, torn ligaments and tendons, loss of consciousness, and emotional trauma. He needs a second operation and can expect continuing medical attention as a direct result of the incident. One college student will miss her sports season due to a concussion. They are asking for a jury trial.
When the performers stepped onto this second stage, the crowd rushed forward to get a better look.
“This is really a post-accident admission that this is the way it should’ve been set up, ” Mongeluzzi said.
Lawyers say their first step will be requesting an inspection of the area and the railing to determine the cause of the collapse.
“That is far too little, far too late”, Duffy said. “That could have been catastrophic”.
Mongeluzzi says his clients are seeking monetary compensation. Mongeluzzi’s client in that personal injury lawsuit settled for $1.05 million. According to Associated Press, The operator of the concert venue has declined to comment on the lawsuit that says it failed to keep concertgoers safe.
