State troopers bathe baby covered in own vomit following arrest
West Virginia Senior Trooper D.C. Graham was on the job with his colleague Trooper B.R. Wood when they arrested a woman for Driving Under the Influence on August 23 at 5 p.m. near their headquarters in Princeton.
First Lieutenant M.T. Baylous, who oversees public affairs for the West Virginia State Police, says the officers’ actions aren’t anything out-of-the ordinary.
West Virginia State Police Troopers rescued a young child covered in filth found in the backseat of a auto during a DUI arrest. According to a report by KTLA, the baby was found in the back of a auto by Officer D.C. Graham.
The 1-year-old baby was found in a child safety seat covered in vomit when troopers pulled over the auto at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 on Oakvale Road.
“We brought him into the barracks and the smell of vomit and feces overtook the room”, Graham told CNN. The baby was crying profusely. “She texted asking for help for her son, wanting to get him into a treatment program. I said, ‘I can’t let him sit in this'”. Troopers said the baby had apparently been sick for some time.
He went on to call the child “the best little baby”. “[The baby] played with the bear and even fell asleep when Child Protective Services had arrived”.
Responding officers from the Princeton Detachment chose to clean the baby up before handing him over to Child Protective Services.
The mother faces DUI charges.
