Orioles get LF Parra from Brewers for minor league pitcher
Brewers outfielder Gerardo Parra has been heavily linked to the Orioles all week and Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the two sides are “closing in” on a deal.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Gerardo Parra gestures after hitting a triple against the San Francisco Giants during the seventh inning of a baseball game in San Francisco, Tuesday, July 28, 2015.
The Brewers finally completed a deal sending Carlos Gomez (and Mike Fiers) out of Milwaukee and to the Houston Astros Thursday, but the team wasn’t done there.
Parra may not be an All-Star player, but this move certainly signals that the O’s are going for it since Davies is a solid prospect who has a 2.84 ERA at Triple-A Norfolk this season.
Parra is the first Orioles’ pickup of this trade season, just one year after Baltimore aggressively acquired Andrew Miller from the Red Sox in exchange for Eduardo Rodriguez.
The non-waiver trade deadline is 3 p.m. Friday and the Brewers are having other discussions.
Parra, a 28-year-old with a. 328 batting average, will be a free agent at the end of the season. In 100 games, the outfielder has slashed.328/.369/.517 with nine home runs, 31 RBI, and runs scored.
Parra has played all three outfield positions and is a two-time Gold Glove victor.
