Ronaldo Reveals His Euro 2016 Player Of The Tournament
The 31-year-old showed he’s still a top forward with 51 goals in 48 matches, one of the highest marks in Europe.
“I’m delighted he was selected in the Team of the Tournament at the Euros – in my opinion, Pepe was the best player at the Euros”.
Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his plans of retirement from football and he wants to quit at the “best club in the world”. “But these two other players deserve it as well”, said Ronaldo, who also won the prize in 2013-14.
After being named this year’s UEFA’s Best Player in Europe, Portugal star striker Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann deserved the coveted trophy more than him.
“I want to keep playing at this level and I’ll work hard to achieve it, just like I do every year”.
Ronaldo has enjoyed a sensational 2015/16, winning the UEFA Champions League with Madrid before leading his country to UEFA EURO 2016 glory.
“As I said on the stage, he [Griezmann] deserved to win this trophy”.
The announcement was made in Monaco on Thursday, following the draw for the Champions League.
“Of course, I feel happy because it was an unbelievable season”, Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo’s Bernabeu colleague Bale also shone in France, where his three goals helped unfancied Wales to reach the last four, and struck in the Champions League shootout.
He is expected to make his first appearance of the season at home to Celta Vigo on Saturday after recovering from a knee injury.
