With score evened, McGregor wants Diaz in lightweight match
Two of the judges had the fight scored at 48-47 to McGregor, while the other scored the fight 47-47.
With the blood barely dried from their historic fight at UFC 202 both Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor are willing to do it all again.
“Good job today Conor but we going for three, for real”.
Diaz felt the deck was stacked against him as soon as the fight went to the scorecards.
For once, it appears White will be a man of his word.
“After that fight when I lost and I’m looking at all these people and they’re all celebrating my demise and saying I’m done and this”.
After knocking out Jose Aldo in merely 13 seconds to unify the featherweight crown, McGregor immediately hopped to the lightweight division to challenge then-champ Rafael Dos Anjos in an attempt to become the UFC’s first two-way title holder.
Another weekend of fisticuffs has come and gone, as UFC 202 went down last Saturday night (Aug. 20, 2016) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aldo rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, earning the promotion’s interim featherweight title and guaranteeing his rematch against McGregor.

As for the financials of the eventual rubber match, Diaz reiterated a mantra he has long maintained, explaining that no matter the dollar amount, it wouldn’t be enough for what he and McGregor put themselves through.
As for Diaz’s next move, White isn’t sure what’s in store for Mr. 209 at this point in time. I got hit in the body by my [training partner], Alan Sanchez is a really good boxer, skilled boxer.
At UFC 202, McGregor opened as a -125 favorite and closed at about -135. I don’t want to make excuses for anybody. I was just talking to him.
The flamboyant McGregor is the biggest draw in the UFC, as shown by his $3 million (S$4.04 million) pay cheque for Saturday’s fight.
That it would take place at 155, the weight class at which Diaz has fought most of his career, adds still more intrigue.
Diaz came close to finishing it in the third but McGregor somehow stayed on his feet despite a series of heavy blows.
“He keeps on walking forward, he took every shot I dropped on him – he just kept coming forward”.
McGregor-Diaz 3 will be one of the most anticipated rematches in recent memory. “We’ll see what happens”.
