Two more athletes added to NZ Paralympics team

“Actually, that video is from 2015 at the Para Athletics World Championship, and not from Paralympics 2016”, Khairy said in a Facebook post last night.

On Ridzuan, Khairy said that his achievements have been recognised and celebrated in many events.
“He has been given the same incentives as “normal” athletes, and able-bodied athletes and athletes with disabilities have been given the same rewards for winning ever since I was made the Youth and Sports Minister”. He was named the Most Distinctive Youth in the Umno Youth assembly.
Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) has today announced the late selection of two further Para-Athletes to the New Zealand Paralympic Team heading to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, beginning next Thursday (8 September NZST).
Its record at the Games is an impressive 12 gold medals and 9 silver and 3 bronze medals since it started competing at the Barcelona 1992 Olympics.
There may be those who say people do not know about all this because there is no publicity for the Paralympic athletes, he said. “I just met with the Malaysian Paralympics contingent this afternoon”, said Khairy. I have written about the changing of policies, but many have not read about this.
Khairy said the ministry aims to provide programmes such as FitMalaysia and National Sports Day to get Malaysians involved in sport and fitness activities.
“Those viral postings make it seem as if they were not given the same attention or recognition by the government as is given to Olympic athletes”.
Scott Martlew, Para-Canoeist said: “I am incredibly excited about my selection to compete at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games”.
“I would particularly like to express my gratitude to the families of the athletes – the parents, partners, siblings and children for the unwavering support you have given”.
“Since some of our athletes are ranked among the world’s top five, it is not impossible for them to win Malaysia’s first gold medal in the Rio Paralympic Games”.
