Donald Trump goes on extended early morning Twitter tirade
Donald Trump is moving forward with his plans to reach out to African American voters, making what the Detroit Free Press is calling his “first foray” into black churches by visiting the Great Faith Ministries Church in Detroit on Saturday. Trump has asked black voters.
Trump’s campaign manager said he plans to meet with Black congregations throughout the duration of the campaign. “And that includes going where the voters are and taking the case directly to them in their churches”, she said.
Jackson said that he has made a “formal request” for an appearance by Clinton to her campaign but “we haven’t received a response”.
Days later, Trump reacted to the fatal shooting of National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge, which he made all about himself.
Over the weekend Trump caused another controversy when he attempted to capitalize on the death of Chicago Bulls player Dwayne Wade’s cousin, who was shot while walking with her infant child in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. “How much more crime, how many more shootings, will it take for African-Americans and Latinos to vote Trump=SAFE!” He said Trump had been “very consistent on no amnesty, no legalization for folks who have been coming to the country illegally”. Why do we want to continue that?’ Carson said.
“We’re fighting for every single vote”.
Jackson said that he will be presenting questions to Trump that are “relevant to our community, especially when it comes to economic opportunity, to jobs, and also when you look at numerous African Americans who have shot by police”.
But the firebrand GOP candidate has struggled with winning over minority voters.
Trump was the face of the “birther” movement, raising the question of whether or not President Obama was an American citizen to anyone he could while demanding to see the President’s “long-form” birth certificate. The same poll found that 59 percent of all likely voters said they agreed with the statement that “the way Donald Trump talks appeals to bigotry”.
At a meeting last week in Trump Tower in New York, Trump criticized financial regulations for having a negative impact on the African American community. “But he may be able to soften his image a bit with some Republican and maybe a few independent whites who have been put off by his harshness thus far”.
