Conore Healthy Snack Company Recalls Products Because of Listeria
Last week, Texas-based Country Fresh LLC recalled 45 varieties of its fresh-cut vegetables after Listeria was discovered during a routine sample test by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
The affected vegetables were packaged either in a clear plastic container or in styrofoam trays wrapped with a clear plastic film.
The recalled products were shipped under the Country Fresh and store brand labels described in the product listing. The symptoms of listeriosis include diarrhea, nausea, fever and muscle pain. If anybody has already bought the product, he or she should either discard the same or return it to retailer for full refund. The source of the outbreak was 11 frozen vegetable products from CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco that have been recalled on April 23 of this year.
Vegetables, meat and dairy products, unpasteurized milk and milk products and processed foods like cold cuts and soft cheese are some of the products that carry the bacterium as a result of contamination. The company has ceased distribution of the affected product as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Country Fresh continue their investigation as to what caused the problem. No illnesses have been confirmed. In addition to pregnant women, those most at risk are young children, seniors and people with compromised immunes systems. This recall is being undertaken with the knowledge of the FDA.
