‘Exorcism: Live!’ to air on TV in October
The special will air in conjunction with the 66th anniversary of the exorcism performed on Roland Doe in St. Louis back in 1949, which inspired the 1971 novel by Peter Blatty and later the film The Exorcist.
Destination America is giving viewers the rare chance to watch a real live exorcism from the safety of their own homes. The Tennessee Wraith Chasers, according to their website, are not only “an elite team of paranormal investigators and researchers”, but judging by the looks of them perform in a P.O.D. tribute band on weekends.
Destination America is set to make what it’s calling TV history this Halloween.
“The ghost hunting team will use state of the art technology to do daytime and nighttime investigations, documenting as much evidence as they can of these true-life demonic entities on live TV”, read the press release. While the idea of putting a live exorcism on the air is a questionable one, there is no arguing that Destination America has scheduled it perfectly, as theyll be airing the special on Friday, October 30, making it the ideal complement to gorging on candy from your kids trick-or-treat earnings.
There will be multiple live feeds all around the house, and viewers will be encouraged to monitor them for any “mysterious anomalies”. Should you spot anything, you’ll be able to report it to the network via a live chat on Twitter.
The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association this week by Destination America GM Marc Etkind.
It will be called Exorcism: Live, officially making it one exclamation point away from being a musical on NBC.
