Brady lawsuit transferred from Minnesota to New York court
“I was wrong to put my faith in the league”, Kraft said.
The Deflategate controversy erupted after the Patriots won January’s AFC championship game over the Indianapolis Colts.
The appeal was filed in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota just a day after the league asked a federal court in Manhattan to uphold and confirm Brady’s suspension before Brady had a chance to file a lawsuit.
“I did nothing wrong, and no one in the Patriots organization did either”, Brady said in a post made to his verified Facebook page.
Brady broke his silence in a 507-word Facebook post earlier Wednesday. Only the phone numbers related to the text messages could be obtained.
“As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr Wells’ investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline”. He added, “That this was never about doing what was fair and just”.
Goodell mentioned exactly that in the conclusion of his appeal decision.
The NFL Players Association said last night it is suing the league because Brady wasn’t given proper notice of the disciplinary standards, policies and potential penalties that the league applied in its appeal of his discipline.
If he puts on a Brady-esque performance, wins a few games and manages to not go anywhere near the footballs before games, he’ll never really have lost that much (as long as nothing else comes out about him).
The club said in a statement: “We are extremely disappointed in today’s ruling by commissioner Goodell”. “Is that the same as destroying his phone?”
The NFL Players Union will seek an injunction Friday, appealing Tom Brady’s four-game suspension handed down by the NFL, according to Brady’s lead attorney Jeffrey Kessler.
But the quarterback says neither he or the Patriots did anything wrong. “The guys in this locker room, we feel we are part of a family”, he said. The Patriots have suspended both employees indefinitely.
That should obviously bode well for Brady in court. “Brady plays for a team in Massachusetts; the Union is headquartered in Washington, DC; the NFL is headquartered in New York; the arbitration proceedings took place in New York; and the awared was issued in New York”. The NFL reinstated him in April.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – Tom Brady received a big cheer from Patriots fans when he came out on the practice field Thursday for New England’s first practice of training camp.
Like Brady, the New England team’s owner Bob Kraft also voiced frustration about the suspension. The union said the decision “gives the back of the hand to fundamental arbitral principles concerning procedural fairness and arbitrator bias”.
The commissioner said Brady’s conduct suggested he was attempting to hide evidence.
At that point negotiations ended, Atallah told Nichols. Kyle countered that the union made only a fleeting attempt to link the Brady case to Petersons.
