New anti-Trump ad looks to sway black voters
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has criticized the links between the foundation and the State Department, accusing the Clintons of establishing “a business to profit from public office”.
In an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, the Democratic presidential nominee kept up her verbal assault on Trump’s campaign, asserting it is built on “prejudice and paranoia” and caters to a radical fringe of the Republican Party.
Before her interview, Clinton had largely ignored Trump’s criticism of the foundation, with campaign officials figuring her late-summer advantage gives her few incentives to personally push back against the email criticism or allegations of pay-for-play.
Responding to Trump’s immigration plan to step up deportation, the Clinton campaign said his extreme right-wing agenda “is fueling a unsafe movement of hatred across the country”.
Hillary Clinton said Friday the charitable programs of her family foundation would continue, perhaps through partnerships with other organizations, if she’s elected president, even as critics argue that would present a conflict of interest.
“The e-mails and phone logs show that the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Department of State were one and the same”, Trump said during a rally in Austin, Texas Tuesday night.
They said Trump’s immigration policy will be humane, and insisted he has not been wavering on the issue.
“I know there’s a lot of smoke”, she said, “and there’s no fire”.
“After all, if everything was above board while Hillary Clinton ran the State Department as the Clintons have said, then why change a thing?”
The foundation announced last week that if Hillary Clinton were to be elected, Bill Clinton would step down from the foundation board and it would stop accepting money from foreign and corporate sources.
The Clinton Foundation is working now to “spin off” or “find partners” for many of its programs, including all global activities and programs funded by foreign and corporate donors, the head of the Clinton Foundation told NPR’s Peter Overby.
Despite plans announced earlier this week to reorganize the Clinton Foundation if Hillary Clinton wins the November 8 election, USA Today said the global charity must close for the Democratic candidate to avoid any appearance of unethical ties. “We’re going to be testing (transferring responsibility), and that’s why the Clinton Foundation is looking for partners. not necessarily the same partner for all of the work”.
“It’s a disgrace, this is a threat to the foundation of democracy”, said Trump. “Voters are used to the old game where failed politicians like Hillary Clinton falsely smear Republicans with charges of racism”.
“We’re going to make it clear: You don’t get to the White House unless you travel through the doors of the NAACP”, Brooks said.
