Blizzard making Overwatch on Xbox One free to play September 9-12
Blizzard‘s absurdly successful shooter Overwatch is going free-to-play next weekend, the developer has announced.
Free players will be able to access most of the game, including leveling up their accounts, earning loot boxes, and customizing their heroes.
The good news is that if you enjoy the game and decide to purchase the Origins edition, all progress and stats will be saved.
Come next Friday, if you’d like to hop in and give the game a try, just head over to the Xbox Store or PlayStation Store and look for “Overwatch Free Weekend”.
It should be noted that Competitive Play will not be available during the free weekend and Trophies will be disabled.
For PlayStation 4, the download size is around 9GB. It’s a first-person shooter that relies on team-based gameplay, pitting a team of six players against another team of six.
The promo extends to Xbox One players with an active Xbox Live Gold membership and all PS4 users (though, do note, a PlayStation Plus subscription is needed for the full version of Overwatch). Again, all of these will be playable during the Overwatch Free Weekend trial. The free weekend will be on till September 12 at 12 PM BST.
