Run the Jewels Reveal New Song in ‘Gears of War’ Trailer
Details about Gears of War 4’s single-player and multiplayer have been aplenty, but developer The Coalition has kept information about the game’s co-op mode, Horde 3.0, a closely guarded secret.
Taking inspiration from the Survival and Overrun modes in Gears of War: Judgment, Horde 3.0 now features specific classes including Soldier, Sniper, Scout, Heavy and Engineer, each with a customizable loadout.
This new trailer also focuses on the tower defense component, which looks to be rather defined and more polished in comparison with the latest iteration of the Horde mode. Possibly the most controversial change will be the addition of character classes to the mix. Up to five players work together to survive 50 waves of increasingly hard enemies, including boss waves that arrive at every 10 rounds.
The new Gears of War 4 trailer released today is notable for two reasons, your interest in which will vary depending on how much you like sc-fi gun bros and hip-hop supergroups.
Horde 3.0 will make its public debut at PAX West this weekend on the showfloor and then on Saturday special guests will compete to become the “First to Fifty” beginning at 6:30 PM PDT from the PAX Arena. Yes, Gears of War 4 will be using a card system similar to Forza Motorsport or Halo 5’s Req packs.
Gears of War’s arcade-style wave combat mode, Horde, is getting revamped for the upcoming sequel Gears of War 4. Not only will their music feature in the game when it premieres on October 11, but you can actually play both Killer Mike and El-P as characters within the game.
