Prem clubs spend £1.165 billion – Deloitte
Premier League clubs’ transfer window spending has topped £1bn for the first time, according to accountants Deloitte.
Manchester United, under new boss Jose Mourinho, ended what was becoming a protracted saga by signing Paul Pogba for a world-record £89m.
Manchester City were among the most active clubs on transfer deadline day as Pep Guardiola started to trim his squad. The pressure has never been bigger on those supposed big four, maybe six, clubs.
