Acer Unveil the First Curved Screen Laptop, the Predator 21x
The high-end gaming laptop is powered by Intel’s latest Kaby Lake Core i7 processor and features a curved 21-inch IPS display (2560 x 1080) along with dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards in Scalable Link Interface (SLI), reported Ubergizmo. It measures 568 x 314.5 x 83.25mm (WxDxH), room enough to accommodate all those components plus a five-fan cooling system with three AeroBlade metal fans. It also has an HD webcam, full-size mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX key switches and RGB backlighting, a number pad that flips over into a touchpad, and a 4.2 audio system. Using infrared sensors and software, the Predator 21 X can track your eye movements for a new level of control in games and apps that play nice with the technology.
While it does qualify as a notebook due to its design, the Acer Predator 21 X is more a desktop replacement than any other notebook on the market.
The futuristic Acer Predator 21 X will not be cheap when it arrives, but you’ll have a while to save up as it’s not expected to debut until early next year.
The next standout product out of the bunch is Acer’s new $399 Chromebook R 13.
When it comes to the Swift 5, Acer has provided a similarly slim laptop at just 0.57 inches (14.58 mm), which weighs only 1.36 kg and comes with a 14-inch Full HD IPS display. On paper, it is rated for a 9-hour battery life.
The company debuted some of its new Spin series of convertible notebooks at the IFA conference on consumer electronics set to start Friday in Berlin, Germany.
Acer now holds the record for having the world’s thinnest laptop at a mere 9.98mm thick.
At the same time, Acer also announced the Spin 5, the Spin 3 and Spin 1 convertible laptops. The backlit keyboard is optional though. It has a full HD 27-inch display running at 144Hz, and is priced at €799 (around £690).
Acer definitely has the range.
