SC GOP chair: Clinton emails ‘reckless,’ show ‘bad judgment’
Hillary Clinton told FBI investigators during an interview in July that she had used a personal email server as secretary of state “out of convenience” and did not remember anyone raising legal concerns about the practice, according to documents released on Friday.
“Clinton’s reckless conduct and dishonest attempts to avoid accountability show she can not be trusted with the presidency and its chief obligation as commander-in-chief of the US armed forces”, he concluded.
The Justice Department then closed the case. “Based on her doctor’s advice, she could only work at State for a few hours a day and could not recall every briefing she received”, the report said.
The Washington Examiner said Clinton, at one point, “she thought the classified “C” markings on emails recovered … were just a way to put paragraphs in alphabetical order”.
The FBI declined to provide further comment on the report.
Republicans have repeatedly hammered Clinton over the issue, helping drive opinion polls that show many USA voters doubt her trustworthiness.
But over a 3½-hour interview in July, she told investigators she “did not explicitly request permission to use a private server or email address”, the Federal Bureau of Investigation wrote.
Meanwhile, the State Department has been ordered to review for possible release almost 15,000 additional emails and documents uncovered during the FBI investigation that had not been disclosed by her lawyers.
The FBI said the link, if opened, could have infected the user’s device and sent information to at least three computers overseas, including one in Russian Federation.
“Powell warned Clinton that if it became “public” that Clinton had a BlackBerry, and she used it to ‘do business, ‘ her emails could become ‘official record (s) and subject to the law, ‘” the report stated.
According to the report, Clinton said “she did not pay attention to the “level” of classified information and took all classified information seriously”. Converting government records to one’s own use and destroying them are serious crimes, even if no classified information is involved.
The FBI’s investigation focused on whether Clinton sent or received classified information using the private server, which was not authorized for such messages.
“When asked of her knowledge regarding TOP SECRET, SECRET, and CONFIDENTIAL classification levels”.
Clinton’s campaign said it was “pleased” with the report’s release.
He declined to say whether State Department officials still discussed the planning of future attacks using drones in unclassified emails.
“I’m not surprised at all”, Smith said on Fox Business. “We trust State Department employees to use their best judgment when conveying sensitive information, taking into account a range of factors”. “Hillary Clinton is winning their voters 73-9 with Jill Stein at 6% and Gary Johnson at 3%”, according to a press release from the Public Policy Polling.
Clinton told investigators that she directed her aides in early 2009 to create a private email account and that it was “a matter of convenience” for it to be moved onto a system maintained by her husband’s staff.
The notes revealed that Clinton relied heavily on her staff and aides to determine what was classified information and how it should be handled. This reminds us of how cynically the Democrats’ presidential nominee looked the American people in the eye and assured us, for over a year, that she never sent or received classified information.
