CNN, NBC set campaign programming for next week
Clinton and Trump will be asked questions posed by members of the audience about national security and military affairs for one hour.
Tomi Lahren’s fired up about the selection of NBC’s Matt Lauer to moderate the first forum between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
The host was just announced and it will be Matt Lauer.
Matt Lauer is facing criticism for agreeing to moderate an upcoming town hall with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, despite a reported conflict of interest as a former member of the Clinton Global Initiative, but NBC insiders say that’s not true.
It’s unclear why CGI seemingly took it upon itself to list several news personalities as “members”; Anderson Cooper, Maria Bartiromo, Thomas Friedman and Christiane Amanpour were also name-checked on the since deleted page. The rep continued that the Today anchor interviewed President Bill Clinton from one of the Clinton Foundation offices, but it was strictly for a live broadcast to be aired on the morning program. Romper reached out to the Clinton campaign for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
The Clinton Foundation told Mediaite that journalists who attend Initiative events are not required to pay a membership fee.
Despite the hoopla that has surrounded the appointment of Lauer as moderator for this the Commander-in-Chief Forum, Trump has agreed to participate, something he did not have to do if he felt that Lauer would not be fair to him. It’s a good thing the American people can’t be fooled, Matt Lauer.
