Pennsylvania State Police said Ewing was found dead Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, after she was kidnapped by her husband Kevin Ewing, who was hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after police forced their way into a barn several miles from where the woman was abducted.
Police say the Ewings may be traveling in a silver Honda sedan but did not know in which direction the two were heading.
On Tuesday, a Pennsylvania man, Kevin Ewing, allegedly killed his wife after having kidnapped her for the second time within two months. Kevin Ewing was flown to a hospital in Pittsburgh, apparently suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Troopers said Tierne Ewing had a protection-from-abuse order against her husband. Police say he then took her camping in the woods, where he’s accused of putting a gun to her head and threatening her. She escaped when her husband sent her into a credit union to withdraw money.
The tellers called the cops who found Kevin Ewing in his auto armed to the teeth with several handguns and a knife.
Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone said his office had asked a judge to keep Ewing in jail after he unexpectedly posted bail last month.
But the judge allowed Ewing to remain free at home with the ankle bracelet without Global Positioning System tracking. Prosecutors were concerned because of the seriousness of the charges, but the judge allowed Ewing to remain free at home with the ankle bracelet. Authorities couldn’t immediately resolve that discrepancy Wednesday.
He had been wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, but police said he cut it off before Tuesday’s alleged abduction. Kopko said she previously told him that if she ever went missing, her body would be at her father-in-law’s farm.
Tierne told authorities he beat and pistol-whipped her, spat on her, kept her hands tied with wire and branded her legs with a piece of hot metal.
